Funding & Sponsorship

Yokohama Calling CIC is a UK based not-for-profit organisation and relies on funding and sponsorship to enable us to deliver the workshops and events that we produce. Our programme reaches diverse audiences and communities across the UK and beyond.

Our core values form the cornerstones of our key activities: community, collaboration, cross-cultural understanding, encouragement, respect, inclusion, supportopportunity for all and integrity.

Sponsorship and Support
Our partnership opportunitities cover a wide scale and offer flexibility, whether it’s as Signature Sponsor of our programme for a term or single event, for the commissioning of new work, or for technology, logistics or hospitality, we are committed to delivering excellence in the events we produce while meticulously meeting our sponsors’ objectives.

National and international cultural institutions and corporate organisations that are closely aligned with our core values and objectives are vital support in realising our shared vision and the belief in the ability to change lives for the better through music, art and culture for all.

Our five main objectives are to:

Promote Japanese culture in the UK
Through events that include music, art, performance art, design, produce and history. By creating unique collaborations between Japanese and prominent British artists we are able to present them to new and wider audiences. Our events often also include Japanese food and beverage, a display of art, and literature that gives some cultural and historic context to the event.

Promote UK culture in Japan
The collaborations and events that we create are designed to have broad appeal and, as we build bridges with Japan through our collaborations, events and digital content, we grow awareness of UK based artists and culture with Japanese audiences. We seek to mirror our UK activities in Japan, creating opportunities for UK based artists and students to collaborate and learn in Japan.

Encourage and support young artists
Yokohama Calling works with its artists to combine free performance with workshops for young musicians and creates opportunities for students to perform on stage with the established artists. Working with organisations, such as World Heart Beat Music Academy with its many super talented young musicians, we find the experience to be equally inspiring for the students, the professionals and the audience.

Make art and culture accessible to everyone
We are committed to producing events across the UK. Taking our productions to communities that have little access to culture, making our events accessible to people whatever their financial situation, is of huge importance to us. Music and art enriches the human experience and we believe no one should be excluded from the experience.

Create high-quality content
The importance of creating high quality content in today’s switched-on world cannot be overstated. Digital channels allow us to reach far bigger audiences than ever before, allowing us greater opportunity to promote our core values through enjoyable and easily accessible creative content.
